Celebration Day FAQ
NO ADMISSION AT THE GATE
REGISTRATION DEADLINE is March 25th, 2022 and we are unable to accept any additional registrations after this date. No exceptions.
Fiesta Especial® does not grant general admission at the gate. You will receive admission bands based on your registration totals. Schools and providers will be given the opportunity to secure additional wristbands by showing a SCHOOL ID and Valid Diver's License at School Registration and Provider Registration in Parking Lot B on April 5th.
Individuals will not be permitted to adjust their registration counts upon arrival. All adults registered through Individual registration will be required to show a valid photo ID before gaining admission into Celebration Day.
PARKING/DROP OFF
Parking permit is required.
Exit and turn left onto Chavez. Turn left onto the access Rd, then go past the Alamodome and take the next right on Montana. Buses can stage there on Montana & Cherry. Unload then park in Lot B.
Exit Chavez and continue straight across the access road. Go past the Alamodome and turn right onto Montana. Buses can stage there on Montana & Cherry. Unload then park in Lot B.
All cars will be directed to park in Lot B.
SPECIAL AMENITIES
At Fiesta Especial® Celebration Day, you will have access to free games and rides, Sensory Friendly Escape Room, port-a-potties and accessible port-a-potties, adult/older child diaper changing stations, tube/private feeding area, Registered Nurses on duty, chairs at most rides, education stations manned by special education teacher students at Texas A&M - San Antonio, no music blaring from rides and SAFD Ambulance to make your visit more accommodating to your student’s needs.
PASSPORTS - A&M EDUCATION STATIONS
disABILITYsa has teamed up with Texas A&M University – San Antonio to offer your students an educational experience during their time at Fiesta Especial® Celebration Day. Texas A&M University – San Antonio will offer 4 activities for your students in the areas of Art, Science, Reading and Math. The Passports may be picked up at any of the 4 stations.
Have your class complete all four activities to win a prize basket filled with Texas A&M goodies.
Students who complete all four activities will be awarded. Classrooms who participate all four activities will be entered into a drawing for a Prize that will be delivered to their class following Fiesta®.
THANK YOU POSTERS & CARDS
We love sharing the love with the sponsors of Fiesta Especial® who make this day possible. If your class would like to make a thank you poster to our sponsors, we ask that you drop this off at the registration table upon arrival. This year, your poster will be entered into a contest to be one ten posters selected to appear on a set of Thank You cards that will be presented to our sponsors. Your poster should definitely include a fun and spirit filled theme and the words “Thank You”. In order to be considered, your posters should NOT include the first and last names of students or the names of any of our sponsoring companies.
CLASSROOM BUDDIES
If you requested, and have been awarded, you will be introduced to your classroom companion through an email prior to arrival and then will meet up with your Buddy in Parking Lot B at SCHOOL REGISTRATION. These are volunteers who are there to offer you extra eyes and hands so that your classroom can engage in the Fiesta Especial® experience more thoroughly. The volunteers will be ready to meet up with your class by 9:30am.
PHOTO OPT OUT
Guests who should not be photographed should seek a photo opt-out band from the Prize or Merchandise Booths.
LOST & FOUND
All items making their way to “Lost & Found” will be taken to Guest Information (located near the front entrance) for guest retrieval. If you find an item that does not belong to you, please take it to the Guest Information booth, Merchandise Booth, Prize Booth area.
TEACHER RESOURCES
disABILITYsa is pleased to offer you support in your programs through adapt books, communication boards, etc. to help you bring Fiesta® into the classroom. These resources are located on our the Educational Resources page of this website.
COLORING BOOKS
Coloring books may be picked up at the entrance area. Please be sure to grab these on your way out!
GENERAL ADMISSION ARMBANDS
Admission bands are sent out in advance to all schools and providers who registered. Back-up packets are available for those who informed disABILITYsa that their packet did not arrive. Individuals who registered online will receive their admission bands at registration in Parking Lot B. These bands give attendees access to the activities and rides. It is recommended that you put your armbands on prior to your arrival.
FOOD / CONCESSIONS
Schools and Providers are welcome to bring in an ice chest with your lunches. You have the option to bring a sack lunch or concessions are available for sale. Please click here for a pricing estimate sheet.
MERCHANDISE
Fiesta Especial merchandise will be available for sale. Fiesta Especial Medals will sell for $3-$10 each, and pins for $1-$3 each. Other merchandise items will be available at prices ranging from $1 - $10.
SHOEBOX FLOAT DISPLAY
You must bring your floats with the Shoebox Display form affixed to your classroom entry. Reminder: only 1 entry per classroom. The staging area for the parade is located at the back of the Carnival Grounds on the opposite side from the front entrance. Following the parade, floats will be placed on tables according to Category for the judges to make their final decisions. All shoebox floats that do not have a form affixed to their entry will be a part of the parade, but will only be eligible for an honorary ribbon.
MIDWAY MAP
A map of the midway will be emailed out prior to the event day. The map will identify event amenities as well as indicate which rides will be open for our use.
COMMEMORATIVE PHOTO
Please be sure to visit the Photo Booth for a special commemorative Photo of your visit to Celebration Day. Props are available to make this a super fun experience.
BUS SCHOLARSHIP (REIMBURSEMENT)
If awarded to your school, bus/transportation reimbursements will be distributed within 7 days of receipt of your Official Transportation Invoice from your school district. Invoices from your TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT may be emailed to [email protected] or faxed to 866-461-5481. The deadline to submit invoices for reimbursement is Friday, June 3, 2022. If an invoice is not submitted by this date, you forfeit your award. disABILITYsa will NOT reimburse off of an estimate or quote. We will only pay out on the official Transportation Invoice from your district’s Transportation Department and MUST be accompanied by a W-9. Information can be faxed (866-461-5481) or emailed ([email protected]).
GAMES & ACTIVITIES
The Carnival Operated games are closed with the exception of a few. There are fees associated with each of the carnival operated attractions.
