Fiesta Especial® – Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024 (10am – 3pm)
Almost every school, if not all, has a unit on Fiesta® during the month of April. Fiesta Especial is an opportunity to bring practical application to your lessons in a safe, family-friendly, alcohol and tobacco free event created for individuals with disabilities. Fiesta Especial® is a fun and educational experience for students in Special Education programs in San Antonio and surrounding communities. This year, we have packaged together resource materials to supplement or help you build a lesson plan. “I believe Fiesta Especial® includes activities which provide an educational focus and serve to extend school instruction into the community setting. Participants are given opportunities to practice skills related to motor activities, social interactions, functional math and functional reading skills. Additionally, the outdoor setting and variety of activities can be very reinforcing for many of them.” Carol Bushnell, Executive Director of Special Education for N.E.I.S.D.
