Fiesta Especial® creates inclusive and educational experiences engaging individuals with disabilities in the culture and celebrations of Fiesta® through community instruction and training.
The Fiesta Especial® Royal Court is a leadership and life skills development program for individuals with disabilities. Through this program, participants have numerous opportunities to learn and develop skills in social environments, leadership interactions, problem solving, communication and more. Fiesta Especial® Royal Court participants have the opportunity to take part in a Coronation Ceremony, Family FIESTAval, Fiesta Appearances, Parade, School and Organizational Appearances, Ceremonies and other activities. The Fiesta Especial® Royal Court is a program for individuals, ages 10 and older, who have a cognitive, sensory or physical disability. The Fiesta Especial® Royal Court members represent their peers at various Fiesta® events and activities bringing awareness to the leadership and contributions offered by one more segment of the beautiful canvas of people that make San Antonio a wonderful place to live, work and play. Sponsorship for the Royal Court program helps to underwrite the costs of the Coronation, sashes, crowns, gown reimbursements, admissions, transportation, workshop materials, medals, pins, marketing, recruitment and more. Proceeds above these expenses are put back in savings so that one day we can afford to purchase, produce and store a float for use in the King William, Battle of Flowers or Flambeau parades. |
