Volunteer Positions Are Available!

You can be part of Fiesta Especial as a volunteer.  Just sign up for a Volunteer Position at any of the Fiesta Especial events through the Volunteer Center with the United Way.  Volunteers may register as individuals or groups.  

Volunteer Shifts
Volunteer shifts vary according to the position, but here are some of the basic shifts available

​​Fiesta Especial Inclusion 5K & Parade - Saturday, April 22nd, 2023
Event Set-up:      
5:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Event Shifts:       
​7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Event Clean-up:       
​​9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Fiesta Especial Celebration Day - Tuesday, April 25th, 2023
Event Set-up:      
7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Event Shifts:       
​9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Event Clean-up:       
2:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Fiesta Especial Coronation - Wednesday, January 18, 2023
Event Set-up:      
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Event Shifts:      
3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Event Clean-up:      
8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Event Set-up: Volunteers will assist the Team in setting up games/activities, signage, Changing Stations, Feeding Areas, Entertainment, Registrations, Water Stops, Merchandise, Course, etc  A Headlamp may be helpful for early morning events. 

Event Clean-up to the rescue!: Volunteers will assist the  Team in cleaning and packing up games/activities, signage, Changing Stations, Feeding Areas, Entertainment, Registrations, etc.

Banner Carriers: Volunteers will be at the front of the parade carrying the Lead Parade Banner.

Classroom Buddies: Cell phone number required.  Volunteers will accompany classrooms to assist teachers, aids and chaperones in keeping their groups together and ensuring the attendees are all having a GREAT time! Contact information will be exchanged with matched classroom teacher. 

Course Marshals: Volunteers will direct and cheer on runners/walker along the course route. Shift ends with last runner/walker passing. Vehicle will drop-off and pick-up.

Dignitary Registration & Hosts: Volunteers will register Fiesta Dignitaries and Special Guests as they arrive and escort them through the grounds to their destinations (if they arrive prior to 11:15am).

Finish Line Timing Chips: Volunteers will assist the 5K Team in removing and returning the Timing Chips off of the runners and walkers in the 5K and 1 Mile events.

Game Attendants: Volunteers will operate games and activities for event guests to participate in. Equipment will be checked out and monitored. Two to three people will be assigned to each game/activity. Game/Activity assignments will be made at volunteer registration.

Merchandise Booth: Volunteers will operate the merchandise booth, maintaining inventory and selling t-shirts, medals, pins, etc. Volunteers will work with the attendees on counting, budgeting, "money management" and decision making skills.

Photographers: Personal Camera Required. Volunteers will take photographs according to a suggestion sheet of volunteer set-up, guest arrival, and the early part of the event.

Registration: Volunteers will assist the  Team in checking in guests as they arrive at the event. Volunteers will assist guests with information about the event and with event materials.

Ride Assistants: Volunteers will assist individuals on and off the rides. Volunteers will accompany riders who need additional assistance. Volunteers will ensure that guests who are unable to stand in line have access to a chair. Additional chairs will be available.

Royal Court Escorts: Volunteers will walk alongside the convertibles carrying the Fiesta Especial Royal Court. Two volunteers per vehicle, one on each side. Some volunteers will be asked to carry the parade banner for the court entry in front of the vehicle.

Sanitation Attendants: Volunteers will assist Celebration Team in keeping eating, changing and activity areas in tidy order. Replish supplies of sanitizer, paper towels, etc. Report any mishaps that may have occured that need special attention in these areas.

Scavenger Hunt Guides: Volunteers will guide each groups' participation in the Scavenger Hunt activity to explore the world of Fiesta through a social studies & reading excercise.

Shoebox Parade Assistants: Volunteers will assist the Celebration Team in registering, organizing and facilitating the Shoebox Parade and Contest.

Vehicle Decor: Volunteers will assist the Parade Team in decorating the convertible vehicles for the Fiesta Especial Royal Court members who will be riding at the front of the parade without damage the transporting vehicles. You may bring decorations with you.

Volunteer Hospitality: Volunteers will maintain the volunteer lounge creating a welcoming environment for volunteers to take a break.

Water Station / Cheer Teams: Volunteers will prepare and distribute water to the runners and parade participants during the 5K, 1 Mile and Parade events. Volunteers will collect and pick -up as many cups as possible to keep the route tidy. Volunteers will cheer on the 5K runners as they make their way along the course/route. Shift will end when last parade police escort passes.

Sponsor a child to attend Fiesta Especial today!
Over 3,000 special needs children will attend Fiesta Especial this year at a 75% reduced rate.  $45,000 must be raised to cover the cost of this charitable aspect of Fiesta Especial.  Thank you so much for your consideration!  Please note "Fiesta Especial" in the Designated area.  A $15 gift allows one child to attend at a greatly reduced rate.
