Ms. Wheelchair Texas - Mariah Rose Kilbourne
After competing with nine accomplished contestants from across the state, San Antonio resident, Mariah Rose Kilbourne was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Texas 2012 during the Ms. Wheelchair Texas Foundation’s annual pageant competition on March 24, 2012.

Mariah wants to use her year as Ms. Wheelchair Texas to encourage inclusion in many ways – from work to play! Though cliché to say that “world peace” is the ultimate goal for most pageant contestants,  Mariah would say that my ultimate purpose is to create a peaceful world for people of all abilities so that they may be included, respected, and valued as active participants in their communities and society at large - without any limits or barriers.

The Ms. Wheelchair Texas Foundation, a not-for-profit 501© (3) organization strives to improve the lives of people with disabilities through its mission of advocacy and education.

Summer Jurney - Princess of Perpetual Food Bowl
A member of the Royal Court of El Rey Fido X, and a 5yr old, longhaired chihuahua, Summer was rescued from a puppy mill when I was 8 weeks old. She was covered with fleas, was anemic, and had an ulcerated cornea when the good people at San Antonio Chihuahua Rescue saved me and handed me over to a new Momma, Vicki Jurney-Taylor, the founder and Director of Pet Pals of Texas. This little chihuahua lives with Vicki and several dog brothers: Max, Keoki, and Casper--all rescues.
Vicki and Summer volunteer at Spokespuppy for Pet Pals of Texas, where they tell the public about important health and emotional benefits involved in pet ownership and that pets are family! Summer is also a service dog and assists her Momma, who is a quadriplegic on a ventilator. When she cannot breathe, I bark for help!

Vicki and Summer will be representing BOTH the San Antonio Humane Society and Pet Pals of Texas. Please visit our website at www.petpalsoftexas.org to see how organization supports the pets and service animals which belong to people with special needs.
